Suffrage
What is suffrage? Suffrage is the right to vote and is regarded as one of the most important basic rights granted for everyone. The reason why suffrage is emphasized in such way is that citizens, once they reach a certain age, are able to freely vote for their leader of the country.
Unfortunately, suffrage was not a right that was granted for everyone. Only 6 percent of white men of the Unites States had suffrage in the 1780’s; this caused women and African Americans to participate in various suffrage and civil rights movements. Although African American men were given the right to vote in the *15th Amendment of 1870, they had to face many obstacles (racial problems) in order to gain full suffrage. As for women, they could not vote until after their suffrage movement from 1848 to 1920.
Suffrage is no longer a privilege given to a specific group of power. It is now a granted right and duty that ensures us of our equality due to the people who fought for gain of suffrage many years before us.

Social Justice
What is social justice? The term **social justice was first used in 1840, by a by a Sicilian priest, Luigi Taparelli d’Azeglio. The famous Greek philosopher, Aristotle said: rights exist only between free people, and the law should take "account in the first instance of relations of inequality in which individuals are treated in proportion to their worth and only secondarily of relations of equality."
To make what Aristotle said a little easier to comprehend, social justice accommodates with the natural law that argues people of their equality no matter what their race, gender, religion, or possessions, without prejudice.
Why is social justice so important? Social justice helps us to lead a fulfilling life and to be active contributors in our community. It strives to give each and every one of us equal rights and opportunities.

**Social Justice in a dictionary definition: "promoting a just society by challenging injustice and valuing diversity. In conditions of social justice, people are 'not be discriminated against, nor their welfare and well-being constrained or prejudiced on the basis of gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliations, age, race, belief, disability, location, social class, socioeconomic circumstances, or other characteristic of background or group membership'" (Toowoomba Catholic Education, 2006).
Racism
Racism was first recorded as a word in 1936. Racism is defined as the belief that one is inferior or superior because of one's race. Why is racism such a big deal in our lives? It is because it is time for us to stop judging people by their ethnicity, how they look like, or where they come from. We should respect one another and try to look at a person's personality, not his or her physical appearance.
What can we do to stop racism? One way is to say something and stand out for yourself or others. It is necessary to tell others that discriminating a person based on their race is not okay. We have to remember we are all human beings with equal rights and there is no one in this world who can tell us about who we are.
