This picture portrays a woman fighting for suffrage rights; women were the last group to gain suffrage in the United States. The intended audience of this photograph is the citizens of the U.S. and political parties who stood against woman suffrage rights, such as the *Women's National Anti-Suffrage League which goals were to oppose to women gaining suffrage rights. Millions of women strove for equal authority through suffrage movements and finally in 1920, the 19th Amendment was affirmed and women were able to have the same rights and privileges like men. The movement for the gain of suffrage for women was a significant event which granted women the same civil rights as men.
